Hirashimizu Sake and Ceramics

Shichiemongama Kiln, which has been preserving the history and tradition of Hirashimizu ware for around 200 years and counting, is the location for this hands-on experience in Hirashimizu, a village known for its ceramics. Even if you have no experience with ceramics, you can do it with confidence as local instructors teach and assist you to create your work. You can make teacups, plates, and other items of your choice. You can also make sake cups, of course. The ceramics you make will be shipped to you around a month and a half later.

After making your original ceramics, move on to receive a lecture on sake by La Jomon, a sake store located in Hirashimizu which specializes in junmai sake. This lecture will give you the knowledge you need to make the sake you drink at restaurants or at home taste even better than usual.

The owner of La Jomon, a certified Sake Expert Assessor, NRIB, will carefully select five different types of sake according to your tastes and preferences. While tasting sake, guests will enjoy pairing sake with Japanese sweets and fruits. The lecture will increase your knowledge about sake, and you will be able to experience sake with your five senses, enjoyed in a different way than usual.

After the tour, you can purchase your favorite Japanese sake at La Jomon.
